How I Work + FAQs

Consistency. Connection. Change.

Children need opportunities to develop trust, build awareness, practise new skills and experience relationships differently. Therapeutic change is not something that happens in one appointment. Alongside the therapeutic relationship, change develops through repeated experiences, consistency and opportunities to practise what is being learned in everyday life. We are supporting the child, the caregivers, the relationships and the environment around them. We are not working with a child in isolation.

My Approach

PATHWAY 1

Consistent Weekly Child + Family Support

A structured approach that recognizes the child and their caregivers as part of the same relational environment.

This approach provides opportunities to build therapeutic connection, develop skills and explore what is happening beyond the therapy room.

This may include:

  • Weekly child sessions to build therapeutic connection and develop skills.

  • Regular parent sessions to explore what is happening outside the office.

  • Collaborative exploration of triggers, capacity, sensory needs and relationships.

  • Parent-child sessions when helpful.

  • Practical strategies that can be carried into home, school and everyday routines.

The frequency and structure of support can be adjusted to the child’s age, needs, treatment goals and family capacity.

PATHWAY 2

Child-Focused Intensive Support

A concentrated period of therapeutic work for children who may benefit from more frequent opportunities to engage, practise and build therapeutic connection.

Intensity can support momentum. In some circumstances, a more concentrated period of therapeutic support can help children engage with skills and experiences without long gaps between sessions.

This may include:

  • Two or more sessions per week over an agreed period, where clinically appropriate.

  • Play-based, sensory-informed and relational therapeutic experiences.

  • Opportunities to revisit strategies and build familiarity.

  • Parent consultation and collaborative planning throughout.

  • Reviewing progress and determining ongoing support.

Finding the Right Rhythm of Support

For some children, a more intensive approach may offer the continuity and momentum they need. For others, consistent weekly support provides the opportunity to build therapeutic connection over time.
